The Saudi “Al Majmaah Observatory”: Tomorrow is the first astronomical day of Ramadan

The Majmaah University Astronomical Observatory in Hotat Sudair in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that it has completed preparations for observing the crescent of Ramadan 1443 on Friday evening, Sha’ban 29, corresponding to April 1, 2022 AD.

The observatory said: The astronomical observatory is pleased to show the scientific conditions for sighting the crescent, which shows that on Friday 29 Shaban 1443 AH corresponding to April 1, 2022 AD according to the Umm al-Qura calendar, the mathematical data indicate that the conjunction will occur at 9:25 am Riyadh time, and the sun will set in Makkah Al-Mukarramah at the time 6:36, while the crescent will set at 6:53.”

He added: As for the astronomical observatory site in Hotat Sudair, the sun will set at 6:13 minutes at 275 degrees, and the crescent will set at 6:29 minutes at 273 degrees, meaning that the crescent will set approximately 16 minutes after the sun, with a height of 3.46 degrees and an elongation of 5.2 degrees.
