China News Service, March 31. According to the WeChat official account of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji, with the comprehensive relaxation of epidemic control in Fiji, the local social security environment has deteriorated.

It is understood that there have been several cases of robbery or theft of Chinese citizens in various parts of Fiji recently. The embassy has urged the Fiji police to intensify the investigation of the cases, strengthen the security patrols of the Chinese community, and effectively protect the personal and property safety of Chinese citizens in Fiji.

The embassy hereby reminds Chinese citizens and institutions in Fiji to strengthen security precautions:

  1. Raise awareness of safety precautions and enhance safety precautions.

Try to avoid storing or carrying large amounts of cash and valuables at home, and be especially vigilant in places such as stations, docks, markets and other places with crowded people and complicated security conditions, and take good care of your belongings.

Actively strengthen the safety protection of storefronts, camps, residences and other places by employing additional security guards, installing video surveillance systems, installing anti-theft door and window fences, and equipping safes.

  2. Pay attention to the surrounding environment when driving out, lock the doors and close the windows, and do not leave mobile phones, handbags and other valuables in the car when people leave the car. Lock the doors after getting in the car, and close the windows at least halfway. Do not drink and drive.

When taking a taxi, ask for a receipt and remember the car number.

  3. Reduce travel at night, try to travel with as many people as possible, do not go to remote and dark places, and avoid going to unfamiliar places alone or with strangers.

When going out and at night, pay attention to closing the doors and windows of the residence, properly keep cash and valuables, and make backups of important documents such as travel documents and air tickets.

In case of emergencies such as robbery, theft or personal safety, please call the police in time and keep the police records.
