- We have now managed to increase our own capacity with our own housing that is more permanent.

We have also seen a slowdown in the influx of Ukrainian refugees during the last week, says Johan Forsman, unit manager at the Swedish Migration Board.

Halved need for emergency housing

At the beginning of March, the Swedish Migration Agency went out and requested help from the municipalities to develop 12,000 evacuation places for Ukrainian refugees.

The Swedish Migration Agency has now seen that the need for evacuation places has decreased in the country to 6,000 places.

- We will gradually reduce evacuation sites in both Kalmar and Kronoberg counties, says Johan Forsman.

In our area, these are homes that have begun to be used urgently in Emmaboda, Torsås, Hultsfred, Västervik and Borgholm.

In Kronoberg County, it is about emergency housing in Alvesta and Ljungby municipality.

The temporary accommodation in, among other places, schools, gymnasiums and campsites that the municipalities have developed so far but which have not yet started to be used will probably not be needed in the near future either, according to the Swedish Migration Board.

Emergency accommodation only left in Växjö

In Växjö municipality, it will be the only municipality in Kalmar and Kronoberg counties where the Swedish Migration Board wants to keep its emergency places.

It's a lot about having an office here.

- We have certain places where we want to concentrate the evacuation sites.

These are places where we are located and where you also register, says John Forsman.
