According to information from the FAZ, there are signs of a compromise between the advocates of mandatory vaccinations from the age of 18, such a requirement from the age of 50 and the Union.

On Wednesday there had been talks between the representatives of the three groups.

One proposal, which is now to be discussed further, provides for an immediate vaccination requirement from the age of 50.

After the summer break, the Bundestag should decide based on the infection situation and the emergence of new variants whether compulsory vaccination from the age of 18 should also be activated.

The proposal also includes an obligation to provide advice and a vaccination register.

This proposal can be seen as a compromise between the demands of all three groups.

According to traffic light politicians, everything is still in flux.

Next Thursday, the Bundestag is to vote on compulsory vaccination.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) described it as "good that the process of finding a majority is taking place", but he did not give any "water level reports".

Scholz had spoken out in favor of compulsory vaccination from the age of 18.

The federal government also wants to shorten the quarantine period for people infected with Covid.

In the future, this should generally be five days.

This is a proposal from the Federal Ministry of Health and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which was sent to the federal states on Wednesday.

Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) said in Berlin that the requirements for separations are not really practicable in the current wave.

The aim is to be able to work with a new regulation in the next few weeks.

It should be recommended to voluntarily reduce contacts over the five days of quarantine and - starting after five days - to carry out repeated tests or self-tests.

In addition, “no strict isolation” should no longer be specified.

So far, discharges usually last ten days and can end with a negative test after seven days.

The offer of free citizen tests will remain in place until early summer.

The nationwide seven-day incidence is falling.

The RKI gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Thursday morning as 1625.1, a week ago the value was 1752.0.

In Thuringia, meanwhile, the red-red-green minority government failed on Thursday with a plan to declare the Free State a hotspot in order to be able to extend the mask requirement in schools, trade or restaurants and the 3G rule beyond April 2nd.
