It was a strange first.

On Sunday, the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine had introduced differentiated traffic in Rennes for the first time since the appearance of the Crit'Air sticker in the fall of 2018. All vehicles that did not present the famous sticker and all those who wore the gray sticker No. 5 (old diesel vehicles) were not allowed to drive inside the Rennes ring road all day Sunday.

In fact, offenders were liable to a fixed fine of 68 euros in the event of non-compliance.

How many have been erected?

Triggered on Saturday after three days of exceeding the fine particle pollution alert threshold, the differentiated traffic measure was activated by the prefect on the fourth day of pollution for the day on Sunday.

Before being lifted due to a slight improvement in air quality announced for Monday.

“People were surprised.

There are definitely improvements to be made.

It's normal, it was a first, recognized Tuesday the secretary general of the prefecture.

We will no doubt have to work on better anticipation”.

A sticker at 3.70 euros

Set up in autumn 2018 in Rennes, the Crit'Air system aims to keep the most polluting vehicles out of urban centers.

As a reminder, all motorized vehicles wishing to drive in the intra-ringroad area must have the sticker, which costs 3.70 euros.

The request must be made to the State services at the address: www.certificat-air.gouv.fr.

The air quality was still degraded at the start of the week in Rennes.

According to Airbreizh models, it will take until Thursday for the wind and rain to disperse the microparticles and contribute to a return to good air quality.
