A grave was desecrated on Tuesday evening in Villefranche-sur-Saône (Rhône).

This was completely blackened with spray paint, which had the effect of almost erasing the names of the deceased engraved on the stone, as

Le Progrès

indicates .

"It's a first in more than 20 years of business," notes the caretaker of this cemetery, who also found that flower pots were broken on this same grave.

The suspect, a young man in his twenties, fled shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, after crossing paths with the anti-crime brigade (BAC).

The police arrested him immediately.

He would then have admitted the facts, before being placed in police custody.

According to

Le Progrès

, he specifically attacked this burial under the influence of personal revenge against the family of his ex-spouse.

He risks a year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros for the degradation of the tomb.
