The suspicions have emerged through the police's internet investigation against people who share documented sexual abuse of children, in real time.

The suspects are men in their 30s and 70s and currently have no known connection to each other.

- The purpose of the operation has been to prosecute file sharers who spread abusive material on the internet in real time.

Another purpose has also been to involve police officers who in their regular activities do not work in this crime area, to gather strength in the growing crime category that Internet-related sexual crime against children is, says Maria Wickman, coordinator of the operation and preliminary investigation leader at the group for Internet-related sexual abuse against children (ISÖB).

National task force

The attacks took place in collaboration between various units within the police, including a group at the police's regional cybercrime center in Stockholm that investigates internet-related sexual abuse of children.

Personnel from local police areas, regional and national task forces, the regional investigation unit and IT forensics also participated in the operation.

An investigation is now underway into the material that has been seized.
