The Värmland region has still not decided whether there will be a Värmland stand at the Book and Library Fair in Gothenburg this autumn.

Something that made the association Värmlandslitteratur react.

The association expresses great concern that the investment in a Värmland stand has now reached the end of the road.

But the head of culture at Region Värmland, Ulf Nordström, says that there are no direct closure plans yet, but that there are mostly discussions about whether to take a break for another year due to the pandemic.

Värmland has had its own stand at the book fair since 1989. It has become something of an institution at the fair with local author appearances, sales of books with Värmland connections and free coffee with tailor-made dreams.

In recent years, Region Värmland has been responsible for the stand, while non-profit forces from the Värmland Literature Association have handled the book sales themselves.

According to the Värmland Literature Association, the stand has both strengthened the Värmland brand and inspired tourist trips.
