An application to avoid accidents with pedestrians immersed in their smartphone.

Bus line 39 – which crosses Paris (from Gare du Nord to Porte d'Issy, before a terminus at Issy-Frères Voisin) and carries nearly 5,300 passengers per day – will test the AMY app.

This aims to reduce the number of accidents involving "smombies", these pedestrians glued to their phone screen (smartphone + zombie = smombie) and who do not look to see if the light is red or if a vehicle is coming.

AMY, developed by the RATP and the start-up Copsonic and previously tested on the TVM bus line (Trans-Val-de-Marne) and pedestrian crossings in Vélizy, Mantes-la-Jolie, etc., relies on ultrasound technology.

“When the driver uses the gong, the app automatically receives a signal and sends a notification to the user,” explains RATP.
