It was on March 2 that four Russian planes approached Swedish airspace east of Gotland.

Two other JAS planes were first in place, but Max and his colleague were already in the air on a mission and received new orders.

They would head to Gotland to support their colleagues and ensure that no further planes were on their way to Swedish airspace.

Hear pilot Max talk about the effort in the video above.

More preparedness

At F7 Såtenäs, everyday life continues as usual with the training of pilots and conscripts.

But at the same time, the war in Ukraine is present in everyone's thoughts.

- Basically, we are doing the same business as we always do.

But we are more on standby now than before, Max states.

"Busy days"

It is the flotilla commander Malin Persson who tells us that Max was one of the pilots who participated in the operation and lets us meet him.

- We have a very high level of preparedness and adapt the preparedness to the threat level.

Based on the security policy uncertainty, we have quite busy days right now, states Colonel Malin Persson.
