China News Agency, Berlin, March 9. Vienna News: The Board of Directors meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (hereinafter referred to as "the Agency") was held in Vienna on the 9th.

Wang Chang, Counselor of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, delivered a speech under the relevant topics of the Iranian nuclear issue.

Wang Chang pointed out that the current negotiations on the resumption of the implementation of the JCPOA are at the final juncture, and all parties should step up diplomatic efforts, make political decisions as soon as possible, and work together to resolve the remaining issues.

As the initiator of the current Iranian nuclear crisis, the US should thoroughly correct its mistakes, take further practical measures, actively respond to Iran's legitimate concerns, and push for an early agreement through negotiations.

All parties should create the necessary conditions and a favorable atmosphere for the progress of diplomatic efforts.

Wang Chang said that China supports the IAEA to continue to uphold the principles of objectivity, neutrality and impartiality, and to perform its safeguards duties over Iran's nuclear program in strict accordance with its mandate; welcomes Iran to invite the director-general of the IAEA to visit Iran and achieve positive results, especially the agency's cooperation with Iran. Iraq issued a joint statement on the 5th, reaching a "roadmap" for the settlement of relevant issues and supporting the two sides to continue to resolve differences through dialogue.

China also appreciates Iran's constructive attitude in this regard.

Wang Chang emphasized that the agency's board of directors had passed a resolution in 2015 to draw conclusions on the possible military aspects of the Iranian nuclear program.

China firmly opposes the politicization of the issue of institutional safeguards, opposes any country using safeguards to overturn the historical accounts of the Iranian nuclear program, and opposes the use of this by relevant parties to interfere and undermine the implementation of the JCPOA.

Wang Chang said that China has always firmly safeguarded the authority and effectiveness of the JCPOA and Security Council Resolution 2231, participated constructively in the negotiations, and actively encouraged peace talks. The purpose is to push the JCPOA back on track at an early date.

China attaches great importance to the important role of the institution in monitoring the implementation of the agreement, and expects the institution to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with Iran, and jointly promote the smooth start of the resumption of the implementation of the agreement and a stable and long-term progress.

China will continue to make unremitting efforts to promote the political and diplomatic settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue, and will also firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
