Gabon needs money to revive its economy.

The country, whose overall debt is 6,500 billion CFA francs, or 65% of the national GDP, has decided to launch Treasury securities and bonds on the Central African financial market.

On Friday, it was the turn of Gabonese bankers, insurers and individuals to receive a delegation to attract investors.

Libreville wishes to raise 700 billion CFA francs at the end of several operations which will be launched during the year 2022. Franck Yann Koubge, Director General of the Gabonese Public Treasury, explains what this money will be used for: “

So most of these resources will be directed towards investment within the Gabonese Republic.

In 2021, Gabon had raised 474 billion CFA francs on the regional market.

Reviving the Gabonese economy

After visiting Cameroon and meeting Gabonese investors, the next two stops for the Gabonese authorities are Congo-Brazzaville and Equatorial Guinea.

Thanks to these loans, Gabon hopes to revive its economy seriously weakened by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gabonese growth was -1.8% in 2020. Libreville expects growth of 3% in 2022.
