In recent years, excessive infusion has always been a hot social issue, especially the pediatric outpatient clinic of the hospital has become the "hardest hit area" for infusion.

When they are sick, they use a hanging bottle for infusion, which seems to have penetrated into the bones of some people. They want to cure the disease immediately, ignoring the side effects caused by the infusion.

Today we introduce several misunderstandings about infusion to help you treat infusion scientifically.

Can I get better with an infusion?

wrong!

The fast-paced work life and the pressure that comes with it make it more and more difficult for people who are bent on speed to be sick.

The concept of "infusions get better sooner" makes infusions their preferred mode of administration.

During infusion, the drug directly enters the blood circulation and has a rapid onset of action, but current research cannot confirm that its efficacy is superior to other modes of administration.

Oral administration enters the blood through the digestive system, the process is slow, and some impurities that may cause adverse reactions are "treated" in the digestive tract, so the adverse reactions are also mild, and gastric lavage can be used when adverse reactions occur.

Subcutaneous and intramuscular drug absorption also takes a period of time, creating conditions for first aid.

However, there is no absorption process during infusion, so adverse reactions will occur faster and more violently.

Serious and minor illnesses are infusions?

wrong!

"Infusion when sick" has become a medical habit for many people.

In particular, the pediatric outpatient clinic has become the "hardest-hit area" for infusion.

The vast majority of colds are caused by viruses. The duration of the disease is usually a week. As long as the patient has proper rest and drinking more water, even without medication, he can recover in about a week.

Abuse of antibiotics to treat colds is very common, which will destroy the normal flora in the human body, resulting in dysbacteriosis and reduced immunity.

It will also accelerate the resistance of bacteria, and even create "super bacteria" that are invulnerable to all drugs, and eventually no drugs are available.

The result is that the "enemy" is getting stronger and stronger, while he is getting weaker and weaker.

  Infusion can prevent disease?

wrong!

Many elderly patients voluntarily request the infusion of drugs that activate blood, remove stasis, and reduce blood viscosity to clear blood vessels, maintain the body, and prevent cerebral thrombosis and other diseases.

However, this treatment currently lacks scientific basis.

After the doctor refused such unreasonable requests, he was also questioned by the patient as irresponsible.

For elderly patients, especially those with chronic diseases who usually take a variety of drugs, a large amount of infusion may increase the burden on the liver and kidney; for the elderly with cardiac insufficiency or heart failure, a large amount of infusion will increase the burden on the heart, which is harmful to health.

There are also some parents who require glucose infusion in order to quickly supplement the nutrition for the candidates. This kind of "treatment" is also meaningless.

Infusion without a disease is tantamount to doing nothing wrong, which not only wastes resources, but may also cause adverse reactions.

  Infusion is absolutely safe?

wrong!

If you think that infusions are absolutely safe and reliable, you are wrong.

Infusion is recognized as the most risky drug delivery method and is regarded as a minor surgery abroad.

According to reports, about 60% of adverse drug reactions in my country are caused by intravenous administration.

Infusion can often cause allergic reactions such as fever and rash, and in severe cases, anaphylactic shock or even death may occur.

The more types of drugs and the longer the course of treatment, the probability of adverse reactions will increase exponentially.

At the same time, injections are more prone to errors than other dosage forms in the process of preparation and use, and the consequences are more serious.

  remind

The abuse of infusion is like "cannon hitting mosquitoes". Mosquitoes are dead, but it is a waste of money and harms the body by mistake.

Clinical medication should follow the principle of "do not use if you can, do not use more if you can use less; do not use intramuscular injection if you can take it orally, and do not use infusion if you can intramuscularly."

Intravenous infusion is only used when the patient has difficulty in swallowing, severe malabsorption (such as vomiting, severe diarrhea, etc.), and is unable to take the drug orally; and when the patient is critically ill, develops rapidly, and requires the drug to rapidly reach an effective concentration in the tissue.

At present, more and more hospitals in my country have canceled outpatient infusion.

Patients should be fully aware of the risks of infusion, do not take the initiative to ask for infusion when seeing a doctor, and treat according to the doctor's advice. They must not abuse infusion for the purpose of treating minor illnesses, resulting in serious adverse reactions.
