Already two years after independence, North Korea, with the support of China and the Soviet Union, chose to invade South Korea in what became known as the Korean War.

The war lasted for three years and nearly five million people lost their lives.

The then leader Kim Il Sung saw the United States as his archenemy and forged strong ties with the Communist regime in the Soviet Union.

At first it seemed to yield results as the country's economy grew, but proved fatal when the power of the Soviet Union diminished and the country was eventually dissolved.

North Korea subsequently chose to launch a comprehensive nuclear weapons program, which led to even more sanctions from the United States and the West.

In an attempt to take revenge, thousands of hackers have now been trained who, among other things, steal cryptocurrency around the world.
