America moves its embassy from the Ukrainian capital and urges its citizens to leave

On Monday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that his country had decided to move its embassy in Ukraine from Kiev to Lviv in the west of the country, in the face of the "remarkable acceleration" of the deployment of Russian forces at the border.

"The embassy will remain in contact with the Ukrainian government," Blinken said in a statement, but "we urge every American citizen still in Ukraine to leave the country immediately."
