In Israel in the Middle East, where the number of infected people is increasing again due to the spread of the Omicron strain, a mutant virus of the new corona, the fourth vaccination has begun for residents of facilities for the elderly.

In Israel, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus, which had been on a downward trend, has increased again since late November last year due to the spread of the Omicron strain, and the number of newly infected people reported on the 30th of last month is the first in two months. The number of people exceeds 5,000, and the government is strengthening measures such as limiting the number of people who can enter the store.

Under these circumstances, an expert committee made up of doctors and others has recommended that a fourth vaccination should be started for people over the age of 60, and for people whose immune function is impaired due to illness or treatment. Inoculation has started on the 30th.

In addition, the Ministry of Health of Israel announced on the 31st that it will start the fourth vaccination for residents and staff of facilities for the elderly.

The Ministry of Health stated in a statement, "We considered the risk of spread of infection at the facility and the danger to the health and life of the residents."

In Israel, vaccination is progressing at a rapid pace worldwide, and so far, nearly half of the population, 4.24 million, have completed the third vaccination, and about 80% of those over the age of 60 have completed the vaccination.
