The summit for democracy, organized in virtual by the White House, continues this Friday, December 10.
On Thursday, US Vice-President Kamala Harris concluded the first day of discussion.
Even though her country is organizing this summit, she knows there is still work to be done to be truly exemplary.

Democracy is not perfect, but it can be improved.
This is also the case in the United States.
The mention of the
attack on the Capitol
on January 6 is daily.
The
laws to limit the vote
, especially minorities, are increasing in conservative states.
The executive denounces these local laws and challenges them in court.
But for Kamala Harris, we have to go further.
“
Our Congress must act.
Right now there are two bills before Congress.
Together, these plans would ensure that any American eligible to vote could do so and that their vote would be counted in a free, fair and transparent election.
Today, as the world watches us, the President and I repeat our call for these projects to be swiftly passed.
We know that our work at home will make us stronger in the face of the world.
"
Bills blocked in 2022
The problem is that parliamentary procedure, especially in the Senate, requires a larger majority than that available to Democrats.
Those plans remain stuck, and it will be quite difficult for the Biden administration to present any progress at the next Democracy Summit scheduled for 2022, the year of the midterm congressional elections.
