Tens of thousands of people gathered in Washington DC on Wednesday to protest the election result.

Donald Trump gave a speech in front of the crowds and urged them to go together to the Capitol.

 Just before 9 pm, Swedish time, several protesters entered the Capitolium.

Tear gas was fired in the congress building and the police drew weapons against the protesters.

Several weapons and pipe bombs have been seized and 68 people have been arrested.

Police were forced to evacuate members of Congress and the ongoing approval of Joe Biden as the new president was suspended.

 Only several hours later, Donald Trump published a video on Twitter in which he appealed to the protesters to go home.

At the same time, he said he loves the protesters.

Exemption permits are valid for the next two weeks.

Several police officers have been injured and one has died in hospital from his injuries.

Four protesters have died in connection with the storming of the US Congress.

One woman was shot to death and three others died of "medical reasons".

US Vice President Mike Pence says that the protesters involved in the violence at the Congress building should be brought to justice by all means.

Facebook and Youtube have deleted the video in which Trump spoke to his supporters, and Twitter has announced that it will shut down the president from the platform for twelve hours.

On Thursday, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Trump's accounts on both Facebook and Instagram will be closed indefinitely.

 process of determining Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential election was resumed during the night towards Thursday, Swedish time.



 Several American politicians and world leaders have condemned the riots.

• Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election was formally approved by Congress on Thursday.

Shortly afterwards, Donald Trump published a statement in which he promised, among other things, an orderly handover of power on 20 January.

Chuck Schumer, the Democratic leader in the Senate, and Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, demand that Trump be ousted before January 20.
