The number of new corona infections transmitted to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day has once again reached a new high. In addition, according to the RKI, the nationwide seven-day incidence rose to over 400 for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic on Wednesday morning. The institute stated the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week at 404.5. For comparison: the previous day the value was 399.8, a week ago it was 319.5, in the previous month it was 106.3. The health authorities in Germany reported 66,884 new corona infections to the RKI within one day - compared to 52,826 infections exactly one week ago. This is evident from the figures that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4:05 a.m.

According to the new information, 335 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 294 deaths.

The RKI has counted 5,497,795 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Tuesday at 5.60, on Monday it was 5.28.

The value plays an essential role in assessing the occurrence of the infection.

If limit values 3, 6 and 9 are exceeded in the federal states, stricter measures to combat the pandemic can be imposed there.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 4,712,900.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 99,768.

Intensive care patients from the south are being relocated

According to the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine (Divi), a larger number of corona patients will be relocated to other clover leaf regions in the next few days.

This applies in particular to Bavaria, Thuringia, Saxony, Berlin and Brandenburg.

In the early evening, the so-called cloverleaf concept for the transfer of intensive care patients was officially activated.

The federal states have come together to form regional clover leaves in order to be able to transport patients to other federal states if their health systems are overburdened.

The incumbent Health Minister Jens Spahn had previously warned of this situation.

“We will probably have to move patients on a large scale within Germany for the first time.

We haven't had that before in the pandemic.

That will still be a big challenge, ”he told the Rheinische Post newspaper.

When asked about possible partial lockdowns, he said: "You shouldn't exclude anything in this situation, as bitter as that is."

Calls for lockdown get louder

The CDU chairman Friedrich Merz has proposed a lockdown for unvaccinated people in view of the steep rise in the number of corona infections.

"Those who have not been vaccinated or recovered can only go to the pharmacy, the supermarket and the doctor," said Merz to the editorial network in Germany.

Unvaccinated people would then no longer be able to work: "With a consistent 2 G regulation, access to the company and the workplace would only be possible for vaccinated and genesis patients - with all the consequences," said Merz.

The following must apply: "No more unvaccinated people in the office, no more unvaccinated soccer players on the lawn, no more unvaccinated MPs in the Bundestag, no more unvaccinated students in the classroom."
