The meeting took place at the Russian Ministry of Health.

The delegation of the Council of Europe was headed by the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Björn Berge.

As RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Health, Murashko noted that the Russian side proposes to resolve the issue of mutual recognition of certificates of vaccination against coronavirus "on the basis of the confirmed fact of vaccination, without reference to a specific vaccine preparation", as this will solve the problem of discrimination in the field of cross-border movement.

“We believe that it is necessary to separate the procedures for the admission of drugs to the markets of individual countries and the recognition of certificates,” said the head of the Ministry of Health.

Murashko also noted the importance of preventing discrimination against citizens vaccinated with drugs officially approved in their countries for the prevention of COVID-19.

In early November, Russian Permanent Representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said that Russia and the European Medicines Agency could soon reach a common understanding on the issue of mutual recognition of vaccination certificates.
