October 20, 2021Leslie Bricusse, the British composer and lyricist, the author of the song Goldfinger for 007, has died at the age of 90. 



Author of musicals and film scores, Bricusse was best known for writing the music and lyrics for the films Doctor Dolittle, Goodbye, Mr. Chips, Scrooge, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Tom and Jerry: The Movie, the songs "Goldfinger", "You Only Live Twice", "Can You Read My Mind (Love Theme)" (with John Williams) from Superman and "Le Jazz Hot!" with Henry Mancini of Victor / Vittoria.



Bricusse has won two Academy Awards: for the best song in the movie "The Fabulous Doctor Dolittle" and for the best score in "Victor Victoria".



Among his best known and publicly loved works, the songs 'Candy man' and 'Pure Imagination' for the 1971 film 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory', made with Anthony Newley.

Bricusse also collaborated with John Barry on the soundtracks of 'Goldfinger' and 'Agent 007 - You only live twice'.
