Former US President Donald Trump almost appointed his inexperienced daughter, Ivanka, to head the World Bank, had it not been for the intervention of Trump-era Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
In 2019, Ivanka was 37, had a bachelor's degree and had worked briefly with her father's real estate company, but had never worked with anyone other than her father.
She practiced her loosely defined job as a White House aide, a role that led her to become even closer to her father's mission at the gathering of the world's 20 largest economic powers.

Her main activity at that time was to encourage women entrepreneurs.
Her signature project, the Women's Empowerment Program, was so poorly managed that the Government Accountability Office could not even assess its performance.
Given her record, people around Trump should have dissuaded him from considering appointing Ivanka to head the World Bank.
