The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said, in a brief statement sent to Anadolu Agency, that 626 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning period on Monday.

It is expected that more settlers will storm the mosque in the period after the noon prayer.

The pace of incursions has witnessed a noticeable increase since the beginning of the Jewish Throne Day last week.

The Department of Islamic Endowments reported that more than a thousand settlers stormed the mosque daily during the last days, on the occasion of the Jewish Throne Day, which ends in two days.

In turn, the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs warned that the Israeli incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque took a dangerous turn with the large number of intruders, accompanied by frantic attempts to perform religious rituals, especially during the Jewish holidays.

She stressed, in a written statement, that what is happening in the mosque is a blatant and dangerous violation of the existing historical situation in the mosque, especially since the incursions are being guarded and protected by the Israeli police.

She said that what happened and is happening in Al-Aqsa Mosque is an attempt to impose a new fait accompli in the mosque, aiming to change the religious and historical situation in Al-Aqsa Mosque before the Israeli occupation in 1967.

The Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs called for immediate Arab, Islamic and international action to put an end to these Israeli violations and attempts to harm the historical status quo in the mosque.

The incursions take place in two shifts, in the morning and after the noon prayer, through the Mughrabi Gate in the western wall of the mosque, with the facilities and escort of the Israeli police.

The Israeli police began to allow the incursions in 2003, despite the repeated condemnation of the Islamic Endowment Department in Jerusalem.
