Sources told Al-Jazeera that 3 explosions targeted, this morning, Wednesday, the city of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, leaving dead and wounded Taliban, as well as civilians.

Al-Jazeera correspondent said that one of these explosions targeted a civilian car in the second district of the city of Jalalabad.

The second explosion took place in the city center after the police forces and a number of passersby gathered, killing 8 civilians and wounding others.

Al-Jazeera correspondent quoted local sources that two Taliban and a civilian were killed in the third attack, which targeted a checkpoint of the movement near the headquarters of the border brigade in the fifth district of the city, adding that the gunmen seized the weapons of the Taliban before leaving the site of the attack.

The Taliban had begun tracking down the perpetrators of bombings targeting the city of Jalalabad a few days ago, which were claimed by the Islamic State, which left a number of dead and wounded among the security forces of the interim government, and among civilians.

In a statement broadcast on social media, ISIS claimed a series of bombings that took place on Saturday and Sunday in Jalalabad, and said that they had killed or wounded more than 35 Taliban fighters.

There were also deaths and injuries on Monday when two explosive devices exploded in the center of Jalalabad.

Al-Jazeera correspondent quoted a security source as saying that the governors of Nangarhar and Konar states were dismissed against the background of recent events, and the interim government appointed 5 new commanders of the police forces in districts located in the east and west of the country.
