Basra

- It was locally called "the ancient city of Khaybar", and globally "Crax Spasino", which is the city built by Alexander the Great and is considered one of the largest Alexandrias discovered in the world, according to the director of the Basra Antiquities Inspectorate Qahtan Abdul Ali Al-Obaid. It was built in 324 BC.

Al-Obaid stated that it was initially located in 1857 AD by an archaeologist;

It is called Ronson, and then another scientist, Hansmann, came and considered the site the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Maysan.

Al-Obaid explained to Al-Jazeera Net that no survey work was conducted until 2007, when he conducted a traditional archaeological survey of the site east of Basra, which is 20 to 40 kilometers from the Iranian border, northeast of the center of Basra province.

On the reason for the delay in the surveys, Al-Obaid indicated that the site was a battlefield in the eighties of the last century between Iraq and Iran, with minefields and the remains of military equipment, noting that near the area, 14 small archaeological sites were identified in the Majnoon oil field, and after Heading in the search south this site was discovered and found this huge area of the ancient city.

Al-Obaid began promoting this discovered city with the media of the Iraqi General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, and speaking with international specialists until the British University of Manchester was convinced to cooperate with him to conduct geophysical surveys.

As for the antiquities that he found and indicated to the lost Alexandria, Al-Obaid says that the most visible thing is the remains of the wall that surrounded the city, which was 7 kilometers long and 4 meters high.
