As noted, Biden announced that a major natural disaster had occurred in the state and ordered additional assistance to local authorities in carrying out recovery work in a number of counties, as well as in areas affected by the disaster in New York City.
The statement clarified that assistance could include grants for temporary housing and home renovations, low-interest loans to cover damage to uninsured property, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the disaster.
Earlier it was reported that US President Joe Biden will visit the states of New York and New Jersey on September 7, affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.
