September 05, 2021A sunny day for the annual Venice historical regatta. Tourists flocked along the lagoon, residents crowded the balconies, the three bridges on the main thoroughfare of the city were packed with people and also calli and campielli that saw an imposing security device engaged, as the police were engaged in conveying the flows. On the sides of the Grand Canal, many people on boats cheered wildly for the participants. Between one competition and the next, the emotions of the water parade were not lacking, which on several occasions paid homage to the public present in "Machina" (the prestigious stage set up for the occasion at Ca 'Foscari) with the lift (i rowers raise their oars as a sign of homage to the authorities).

The oar champions are Romina Ardit and Anna Mao. At the moment of passing in front of the "Machina", shortly after the start, they had already 18 seconds from the pursuers. Light blue, red and white follow them to the finish line. "Harmony and friendship, we've been rowing together for a lifetime, this is the secret", commented the winners. A race in itself, to the point that even the jury's boat let go of the first ones, stopping with the group of pursuers, giving them the gift of racing in a deserted Grand Canal. But the historic regatta of 2021 also marked equality in prizes between men and women: "I am very happy that the goal of equality of prizes between men and women has been achieved, which we have pursued so much as a category, I am the first". commented Elena Almansi, one of the protagonists of this battle.

For tourists and residents there is also an unexpected, dreamlike presence: a golden rhinocerontess, a faithful copy of the sculpture by Valeriano Trebbiani that appeared in the film "E la nave va" by Federico Fellini, and which has a stable location in the Piazzetta San Martino in Rimini, next to the new Fellini Museum. The female rhinoceros, 4.5 meters long, 2.5 meters high, and 200 kg heavy, took part in the historical regatta, placed on a 12-meter "bissona", pushed by 4 rowers, with the flag flying of the Fellini Museum. The sculpture is created by Rita Rivelli of Studio Forme in Rome, excellence in the field of artistic restoration, in collaboration with Poly Fantasy. At the end of the regatta the sculpture was placed in storage in the Arsenale Basin and starting tomorrow it will be at the Lido, where it will remain until the end of the Film Festival.
