Former US President Donald Trump has said he is unlikely to receive a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal reported on the 3rd local time, former President Trump said in relation to the booster shot, "I think I'm in good shape. It probably won't fit."

"I'm not against booster shots, but probably not for me," he said.

U.S. officials have announced that they will release a booster shot this month to those who have been vaccinated for more than eight months.

Criticism is coming out of Trump, who has an influence on the Republican party, for expressing his unwillingness to get a booster shot, as the United States is once again on a state of emergency due to the spread of the delta mutation.

Former President Donald Trump sparked controversy last year during his tenure in office by continuing his remarks that seemed to downplay the dangers of the coronavirus.

In particular, the fact that he had his first vaccination privately at the White House just before his retirement on January 20th, after not clearly revealing his position on his vaccination plan, became known through the media belatedly.

There is also an analysis that former President Trump's negative attitude toward booster shots is a result of being conscious of his Republican supporters.

He was booed by the audience for recommending vaccinations in a speech to supporters in Alabama last month.
