August 28, 2021 After serious adverse reactions affecting the coagulation sphere with the first dose of AstraZeneca's anti Covid Vaxzevria vaccine, booster with m-RNA vaccine is possible even in over sixty-year-olds. This is what the Medicines Agency (Aifa) announces on its website.

"Similarly to what has already been decided for subjects under the age of 60, applying the principle of maximum precaution, the Agency specifies that, in subjects who have experienced serious adverse reactions of the thrombotic type or in any case affecting the coagulation sphere after administration of Vaxzevria , a booster can be carried out with an m-RNA vaccine ".

Aifa, "following requests received from some Regions regarding the interventions to be taken following the appearance of a serious adverse reaction (ADR) after the first dose of an anti COVID-19 vaccine - reads the website of the agency - having acquired the opinion of its Technical-Scientific Commission, specifies that it is not possible to provide general recommendations due to the heterogeneity of the cases that require specific clinical evaluation. For the other ADR cases, it is considered that, in the absence of data from ad hoc studies, it is not possible to make recommendations of a general nature that disregard the examination of the specific ADRs and the clinical evaluation of individual cases ".
