This was announced on the air of "Russia 24" by the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Alexei Chekunkov.

“To date, more than two thousand applications have been submitted per hectare in the Arctic.

The Murmansk region is in the lead - about half of the applications.

The second place is taken by the Arkhangelsk Region, the third is the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, ”he said.

According to Chekunkov, the two main areas that people indicate in applications for plots are either individual housing construction or small business.

From August 1, residents of the Arctic regions of Russia can receive a hectare of land for free use.

For the first six months, land will be given on a priority basis to local residents, and from February 2022 - to all citizens.

Along with this, from August 1, the participants of the "Far Eastern Hectare" program, who have mastered the privileged plots, will be able to take additional plots of land for use.
