Two police officers were taken into police custody for "attempted murder" after having seriously wounded by gunshot two people who refused to be checked in a vehicle on the night from Sunday to Monday in Stains (Seine-Saint -Denis), we learned Monday from corroborating sources.

Two separate investigations were opened following these facts, indicated the public prosecutor's office of Bobigny.

One, entrusted to the IGPN (General Inspectorate of the National Police), consists in knowing under what circumstances the officials involved, aged 27 and 30, used their firearms.

Both were taken into custody in the middle of the afternoon for "attempted murder" and were still heard Monday evening, said the prosecution.

An intervention that goes wrong

A third policeman is also heard as a witness, added this source.

The other, led by the judicial police of the department, targets the occupants of the vehicle for "refusal to comply" and "attempted homicide on a person holding public authority".

Monday around 1:30 am, a crew of the BAC (anti-crime brigade) tried to control a vehicle occupied by a man and a passenger, boulevard Maxime Gorki in Stains, traced to AFP a source close to the investigation.

The car comes to a stop first near the police, then reverses to try to get out of control.

One of the officials then tries to enter the passenger compartment of the vehicle to stop it, but it starts rolling again, according to this source.

An amateur video, widely shared on social networks, shows the two officers then repeatedly firing at the car, with their service weapon.

Vital prognosis engaged

The driver was hit by "at least three impacts" of bullets, which injured "the thorax, arm and pubis", detailed a source close to the file.

The passenger, who was lying in the back seat, received a bullet in the back and one hundred days of ITT (total incapacity for work) was attributed to her, according to this source.

They "were taken to hospital with a life-threatening prognosis," said Laëtitia Vallar, spokesperson for the police headquarters, in an online video.

The two police officers "also injured" during the operation "were taken to hospital", she added.
