The president of the opposition party Citizens for Freedom spoke in the Costa Rican press after her flight.
Before leaving his country, the Ortega regime had withdrawn his electoral card and his passport.
His party spokesman, a former ambassador, also wanted to flee, but was arrested last Monday.

These countries had recalled their ambassadors for consultation in order to protest against the latest wave of arrests of opponents.
According to some observers, Nicaragua could, like Venezuela, find itself increasingly isolated on the international scene.
