Two opposition parties, the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) and Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT), have electoral cards to participate in the presidential elections in July. The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCVavismo), a historical ally of Chavismo, has been prevented from presenting its candidate.
