An Arab country faces a record heat wave with warnings.. 50 degrees in the shade

The temperature reached 50 degrees in the shade in Tunisia today, Tuesday, in a record heat wave in the country.

The heat wave extended for days in Tunisia, but today it reached its peak during the day, with records being recorded in a number of states.

Engineer Mehrez Ghannouchi, of the meteorological services, said that at least three records were recorded, including 49 degrees in the Carthage suburb of the capital, 48 degrees in Bizerte, and 47 in Monastir.

These numbers were recorded in the three regions bordering the Mediterranean basin, at three o'clock in the afternoon local time.

Meters on the streets of the capital showed that the temperature under the sun exceeded 50 degrees.

The severe heat caused frequent power cuts, with great pressure recorded on the use of cooling air conditioners today.

The Ministry of Health advised citizens to stay at home and warned against going out during periods of intense heat, with expectations that the heat wave would continue for additional days.

Tunisia is suffering from a significant shrinkage in water resources, and the new wave could cause an increase in the shortage of water reserves in dams, which until last May amounted to less than 50% of their capacity.
