Students told «Emirates Today», that the university specialization is the passport to the labor market, so it is necessary to focus on what this market requires in terms of academic qualifications, to obtain a suitable job opportunity.

On the other hand, an opinion poll conducted by "Emirates Today" about the main determinant of their choice of university major after graduating at the secondary level, through its social media platforms, showed that 43% of students and their participating parents see the determinant of choosing a university major as the needs of the labor market While 30% of them went for the average option, and 27% saw that the desire to study a specialty is what motivates students to choose it.

They added that these academic disciplines have witnessed great polarization by employers during the past few years, which encouraged them to think about affiliation to universities to study them, stressing the great role that academic advisors play in schools, to familiarize students with academic disciplines at the undergraduate level, and the labor market's need for them. Distracting students, and protecting them from getting involved in registering for academic programs that do not serve the state's development plans.

Student Khaled Seif said that he registered to study electrical engineering at a university, because it is the closest to his inclinations and capabilities, adding: “At first I thought about joining the business administration major, but I found that the graduates of this major are many young citizens, in addition to that this major is limited to Administrative work only, but I aim to study electrical engineering to work in the field of space.”

While student Omar Abdullah said that he is inclined to study business administration, because he wants to join the accounting branch in the future, and work in a national bank.

The student, Muhammad Jamal, said: “I did not specify any specific university major to study, although my parents did not interfere in my choice of academic major, but my close friend to me joined the Business Administration major at Abu Dhabi University, and we agreed that we would study at the same college and university, and indeed I found it a major.” It is easy and enjoyable, and it is required in the labor market, and in the future I can work in several fields.”

The student, Aisha Al Yarubi, who obtained 96% of the Applied Technology High School, confirmed that the success she achieved came as a result of the diligence and great support of her family members and teachers, noting that she is striving to achieve her dream of being an engineer in the field of biomedicine, to contribute to the service of her community and her country.
