Italian Lamont Marcell Jacobs won the 100m at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday, succeeding sprint legend Usain Bolt, triple champion in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

Jacobs won in 9:80, a new European record, and became the first European Olympic champion on the straight since Briton Linford Christie in 1992. He beat American Fred Kerley (9.84) and Canadian Andre from Grasse (9.89).
