While traffic is already prohibited in the hypercentre of Montpellier (Hérault), the speed will be limited to 30 km / h in the rest of the city from this Sunday, August 1.

According to information from France Info, this decision which greatly divides the inhabitants is motivated by the will of the PS mayor of Montpellier Michaël Delafosse to reduce pollution as well as to limit the number of accidents.

Wishing to favor public transport and soft modes, Montpellier thus joins Grenoble (Isère), Lille (North) or Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) among the cities that have already generalized this measure.

On August 30, it will be the turn of Parisian motorists to reduce their speed to 30 km / h in the vast majority of the streets of the capital.
