Around midnight on Friday, a 34-year-old man died of two bullets in the back on Place Travot, in the city center of Cholet.

Sunday, the prosecutor of the Republic of Angers, Éric Bouillard, indicated that a judicial investigation "for assassination was opened".

The man who was in police custody "was indicted for non-prevention of crime and non-assistance to anyone in danger," he said.

The latter was taken into custody, while “his three co-perpetrators are still wanted,” continued the chief prosecutor.

The victim was killed by two bullets in the neck and in the back following an altercation on the night of Friday to Saturday.

The judicial police were seized of the investigation.
