See Gustav Bäck fishing bikes from Laganån in the clip above.

For two years, Gustav Bäck from Ljungby has spent a lot of time fishing with a magnet with which he looks for things below the water surface.

The fishing happiness has also been total.

He and his father-in-law have fished several tonnes of scrap metal out of the river, a leisure activity which means that the river Lagan has been freed from a lot of scrap metal.

- I have received a total of 30 bicycles here from the bridge, says Gustav Bäck.

Has a powerful magnet

Gustav has attached a special magnet to a long line which he lowers into the water.

When the magnet gets stuck in an object made of iron, he takes the help of a large hook to pull up the object with.

Bicycles are a common object that gets stuck on the hook.

And all scrap is then picked up by the municipality.

In Ljungby municipality, the park administration takes care of the removal.

Legal to fish with a magnet

Fishing with a magnet and pulling objects out of the water is completely legal.

If you find things that have been proven to be stolen, such as weapons and other objects that are in good condition and have not rusted, you must contact the police.

According to Eva-Lotta Hermansson, who is responsible for the press at the Police in the South, it will then be up to the police to decide what should happen to the objects.

It's not just bicycles Gustav Bäck fished out of the river.

Hear him tell in the clip above.
