On the air of the Ukraine 24 channel, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry explained that the German-American statement “does not resolve the issue of the security of Ukraine, which directly suffers from the launch of Nord Stream 2”.

“And this, in fact, is our main claim to this statement.

There are insufficiently clear and specific things written in the security block, ”the minister said.

At the same time, he does not consider this decision of Washington and Berlin "the end of history" for Ukraine.

"There are still a lot of things ahead, including the certification of Nord Stream 2, insurance and, most importantly, a lot of questions about how the things that are written in yesterday's German-American statement will be carried out," TASS quoted him as saying. ...

Kuleba also stressed that Kiev has many questions to the statement itself, therefore Ukraine insists "on consultations with the EU as a party to the association agreement and Germany, which, as a member state of the EU, is a party to the agreement."

Earlier, US Undersecretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland said that the United States had reached an agreement with Germany on Nord Stream 2.

According to her, Berlin is committed to seeking sanctions against Russia if the Russian side uses energy "as a weapon" against European countries.

In addition, Germany will be obliged to seek a ten-year extension of the agreement between Kiev and Moscow on gas transit expiring in 2024.

Moscow noted that the decision to extend the transit of Russian gas should be made on the basis of economic profitability.
