218 peacekeeping officers and soldiers won the United Nations "Peace Medal"
On July 12th local time in Bukavu, Congo, the "2021 MONUSCO Southern Theater Peacekeeping Forces Joint Award Ceremony" was grandly held in the Chinese peacekeeping force camp. The peacekeeping troops participating in the award were from China, Pakistan, and Pakistan. Indonesia and Uruguay are 4 countries.
This award is the first joint organization of four peacekeeping forces in the southern theater of MONUSCO. The 24th batch of Chinese peacekeeping troops to the Congo (Kinshasa) were all awarded the United Nations "Peace Medal."
On the shore of Lake Kivu, at 9 o'clock in the morning, the honoring ceremony officially began. The Chinese and Pakistani peacekeeping bands took the lead in their debut. The six square teams entered the arena in order with the loud military songs and lined up on the Parade Avenue.
Lieutenant General Marcos, commander of MONUSCO, reviewed the peacekeeping forces and awarded the UN "Peace Medal" to the officers and soldiers.
Afterwards, the parade began, and the teams from various countries passed through the observatory one by one. The Chinese peacekeeping forces had a clever pace, loud slogans, and strict military capacity, which won warm applause from the guests on the scene.
After the review, the commander of MONUSCO delivered a speech in which he affirmed and appreciated the work of the Chinese peacekeeping force in the mission area. He pointed out that the Chinese engineering unit has completed a large number of engineering tasks efficiently, economically and in a timely manner. The overall mission has made a huge contribution; under the adverse conditions of the raging new crown pneumonia epidemic, the Chinese medical team insisted on providing cordial and professional medical services to the officers and soldiers of the peacekeeping team, demonstrating the spirit of selfless dedication and the best professional style.
The peacekeeping forces of various countries also carried out cultural programs. Chinese officers and soldiers performed dragon and lion dances. Pakistan, Indonesia and other countries also performed special ethnic programs, presenting a wonderful performance to the guests.
Finally, Commander Marcos presented peacekeeping souvenirs to some peacekeeping officers and soldiers and exchanged gifts with them.
It is reported that this is the first time that MONUSCO’s southern theater has organized multiple peacekeeping forces to commemorate and commend the outstanding contributions made by peacekeeping officers and soldiers in the Congo (DRC) mission area.
In the afternoon of the same day, our peacekeeping force organized all peacekeeping officers and soldiers to give an honor ceremony. Military observers from our MONUSCO mission participated in the event.
At the ceremony, the party committee of the peacekeeping force read a congratulatory letter from the Chinese Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the list of commendators who awarded the United Nations "Peace Medal", and reviewed the peacekeeping force.
Finally, the leaders of the engineering unit and medical unit of the twenty-fourth batch of China's peacekeeping force to the Congo (DRC) respectively wore peacekeeping medals for each officer and soldier of the unit.
It is understood that since the twenty-fourth batch of Chinese peacekeeping troops to the Democratic Republic of the Congo were deployed in rotation in September 2020, amidst the political turmoil, complex situation, and raging diseases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the engineering units have overcome numerous difficulties and have successively advanced. The standard completed 39 engineering tasks and more than 10 emergency rescue tasks; the medical team faced the test of the epidemic, received more than 500 patients, 200 operations, accepted more than 60 inpatients, and successively received the new crown virus nucleic acid test and the new crown The vaccination mission has ensured the health and safety of more than 4,000 peacekeepers in the mission area.
The two teams created a beautiful business card in the mission area with outstanding performance, which was highly praised by MONUSCO and the local people.
