This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Public Relations Center (DSP) of the FSB of Russia.

“The FSB of Russia, in cooperation with units of the Federal Service of the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as part of a special operation in the Republic of Tatarstan, detained the leader of the Tatarstan link of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami,” the ministry said in a statement.

According to the agency, the man was spreading propaganda of militant Islamist terrorist ideology on the Russian Internet segment and recruiting Russian Muslims into militants.

During searches in the house of the detained, the security forces confiscated means of communication, electronic media and propaganda materials about the banned organization.

In April, the Russian FSB identified a terrorist organization cell in the Novosibirsk and Kemerovo regions. 

* "Party of Islamic Liberation" ("Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami") - the organization was recognized as terrorist by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation dated 02.14.2003.
