A 23-year-old man who was on the Zeil with a knife on Tuesday lunchtime triggered a major police operation.

As a spokesman announced, witnesses had noticed the suspect and immediately alerted the 911.

The incident was also discussed on Twitter.

Among other things, it was speculated that it was a rampage.

The police do not confirm that.

In fact, the background to the act is still unclear.

According to witness statements, the suspect stood with the knife in front of two people who are believed to be part of the homeless scene.

They immediately left their place and moved on.

The suspect was arrested by police shortly afterwards near the main station.
