The mother of five "Sofia" came to Sweden in 2015. According to her, she and her family were persecuted and threatened with death in their home country.

Two years ago, their asylum application was rejected.

Since then, Sofia lives hidden in a place in Skåne with two of her children.

- Honestly, our life is very difficult and we are isolated from the outside world.

I am mostly at home to avoid the police, she says.

Sofia is one of several undocumented people that SVT Nyheter Skåne has been in contact with who do not dare to be vaccinated against covid-19 for fear of being discovered by the police if they visit the care.

- It is said that if we take the vaccine we will be deported, and that scares us a lot.

I know that is not true, but it is difficult for me to get rid of the fear of being deported, she says.

Is it not better to return home if the situation is as bad as you describe it here in Sweden?

- It is impossible to go home, I would rather experience this horrible situation in Sweden than that one of my children is kidnapped or killed in my home country, says "Sofia".
