The General Command of the forces affiliated with the retired Libyan brigade, Khalifa Haftar, stated that he met in Benghazi, the head of Egyptian intelligence, Major General Abbas Kamel, as part of an unannounced visit made by the latter to Libya yesterday, Thursday.
Libyan media affiliated with Haftar said that Kamel referred during the meeting to the importance of Haftar's forces in securing the upcoming benefits, especially the general elections scheduled for December 24.
Yesterday, Thursday, the Egyptian intelligence chief began an unannounced visit to Libya, where he met the head of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, in Tripoli.
The two sides discussed the coordination mechanism for activating all agreements concluded between the two countries, and coordination for Dabaiba's upcoming visit to Cairo, to complete what was agreed upon in all fields.
American commitment
In a related context, the US State Department said that Secretary Anthony Blinken discussed in a telephone conversation with his Libyan counterpart, Najla Al-Manqoush, the upcoming second Berlin conference on Libya.

The ministry added - in a statement - that the two ministers stressed the importance of ensuring that elections are held in Libya next December, and that there is a need for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, including the immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya.
Blinken also affirmed the United States' commitment to intensifying its diplomatic engagement within international efforts to achieve further progress in the Libyan file.
In another context, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, discussed during his visit to Rome with his Italian counterpart Roberto Fico the developments of the situation in Libya and the region and the progress of the political process.
The two sides stressed the need to hold general elections in Libya on their scheduled date at the end of this year, and the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives praised Italy's role in supporting a political solution and achieving security and stability in the country.
And in January 2020, Berlin hosted a conference in which countries and international and regional organizations participated, to contribute to resolving the Libyan conflict.
The outcomes of the conference stressed the need to respect the arms embargo and push the Libyan warring parties to reach a complete ceasefire.
