Nine athletes and coaches representing Uganda for the Tokyo Olympics arrived in Japan through Tokyo Narita Airport.

Two doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were administered in Uganda, and PCR tests within 72 hours before departure all tested negative for Corona and submitted a confirmation letter.

However, one of them was confirmed to be infected with the corona virus at Narita Airport quarantine.

The salivary antigen test showed a positive result, and a PCR test was performed, indicating that the patient was infected.

Uganda is the second foreign team to enter Japan on the 1st after Australia, but this is the first time that a confirmed case of Corona has been reported.

The Tokyo Organizing Committee has quarantined the confirmed cases in government-designated facilities in accordance with regulations.

The remaining 8 people, who were confirmed negative, arrived in Osaka, the campsite, by chartered bus and went into isolation at the dormitory.

With the first confirmed case of a foreign national team raising concerns about the measures against the Olympic coronavirus, the Tokyo Organizing Committee released the inside of the Olympic Village to the media.

In a poll conducted by the Mainichi Shimbun, 64% of the respondents said that it was impossible to hold the "Olympic of peace and safety" that Prime Minister Suga emphasized.

Nevertheless, it is reported that the Japanese government is considering a plan to allow up to 20,000 spectators for the opening ceremony only.
