A government report on the operation of the State Secrecy Law for the last year has been decided.

While 51 new pieces of information have been designated as specific secrets, 3 pieces of information have been undesignated.

Under the State Secrecy Law, the government is required to report the operational status of the law to the Diet once a year, and the government decided at a cabinet meeting on the 11th a report on the operation of the law for the last year.

According to the report, 51 new pieces of information have been designated as specific secrets, and as of the end of last year, a total of 613 pieces of information have been designated.

The breakdown of each ministry and agency is 349 for the Ministry of Defense, 94 for the Cabinet Secretariat, 41 for the National Police Agency, and 40 for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the other hand, three pieces of information from the National Police Agency have been de-designated because they no longer need to be protected.

The government will promptly submit the report to the Diet.

The report will then be reviewed by the Information Surveillance Review Board of both Houses of Representatives.
