A resident of Tourcoing, near Lille, in the North, recently had the unpleasant surprise of seeing his cat disappear.

Escaped or stolen from elsewhere, since an animal of this breed, a Bengal, still costs between 800 and 1,200 euros.

When in doubt, the cat owner still checked the Internet to see if he could find his animal.

And he did well.

On Wednesday, it was on Facebook's Market place that the owner of the cat spotted his Bengal, put up for sale at a price that was not specified.

He immediately contacted the seller, saying he was interested.

An appointment has been made at the beginning of the evening, rue Philippe de Girard, in Tourcoing.

Thief arrested and cat returned to its owner

Except that the victim of the theft did not make it to the meeting alone.

The young man notified the police who, at the appointed time of 8:15 p.m., sent a BAC patrol to witness the transaction.

The seller of the cat was immediately arrested on his arrival.

The cat's owner recognized his animal, but to secure the case, an LPA volunteer confirmed the cat's identity with his microchip.

The accused, aged 21, was taken into custody for concealment of theft.
