Former US President Donald Trump launched a sharp attack on the American infectious disease expert, Anthony Fauci, over his handling of the Corona epidemic, and demanded that China pay ten trillion dollars in compensation to America because of Corona, and also denounced an investigation currently underway regarding his finances, during a conference in North Carolina.
In a speech at the state's Republican convention in front of about 1,200 invitees, Trump joined a group of Republican politicians who criticize Fauci for his call for Americans to wear masks to prevent the Corona virus, which has at times questioned a theory that the virus emerged from a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
Trump described Fauci as "not a great doctor but an expert in pitching" for his frequent television appearances.
"He was wrong on almost every issue, in Wuhan, and in the lab," Trump added.
The origin of the virus is still disputed and is being studied by US intelligence agencies.
Trump demanded that China pay ten trillion dollars in compensation to the United States and the world because of the virus, and said that the countries of the world should cancel their debts to Beijing.
The former US president criticized a criminal investigation by the New York attorney general's office, describing it as the latest attempt by Democrats to bring him down.
The investigation is looking into whether the Trump Organization submitted false reports on real estate to obtain loans and tax and economic benefits.
During his speech, which lasted about an hour and a half in Greenville, in the southeast of the United States, the 74-year-old billionaire again brought up the idea of running for president in 2024, which he said was "a year I look forward to," to applause from the audience.
Trump advisers say he is looking into the possibility of another presidential campaign.
