Forest biologist Sebastian Kirppu was the one who a few days ago discovered that the over 500-year-old and enormously extensive old figure had fallen to the ground after a harsh winter.

The tree probably gave way in the wind after lots of wet snow froze in the branches.

- There was a shock through the chest, says Sebastian Kirppu.

Locals, forest enthusiasts and tourists have for years walked to the ancient so-called grandmother's stable which is located in a forest area next to Grönsåsen's summer pasture.

One of the few really old and large pines that have remained outside the mountain area itself.

- It is sad that it no longer exists. Our and future generations will not get to experience this because it takes between 500 and 600 years to recreate such old pines, says Sebastian Kirppu.
